Declassified talks show Hamlin willing to disestablish IMTO
Hamlin: “I’ve been working for about two weeks to get rid of it”
A shortly-classified document of the Ministry of War Information depicting a discussion between Casey Hamlin, Secretary-General of the IMTO, and Riley Small, President of Kozuc, has been published yesterday evening. In the document, Hamlin asks Small to “start a rumor that the IMTO is going to dissolve” and that “under no circumstances can you tell them I told you to“.
The extract of a conversation, that was handed out yesterday evening to the Ministry of War Information, shows Hamlin asking Small to just “say that a source said we are considering dissolving (which we are probably going to do)”, mainly due to the fact that “Yaroslav [Mar, of Lostisland] is being stubborn and won’t vote for the authorisation to dissolve“, to which Small replied that the matter would have been eventually discussed with the St.Charlian government and the central command within Kozuc.
After Hamlin, the IMTO has become “like a sick dog, we need to put it down, it’s becoming a burden“, and claims the disestablishment should take place “tomorrow or Thursday”, in order to “pressure Yaroslav to bow out” .
When asked by Small if he was “actually happy to get it over with” and if there would have been any subsequent project, Hamlin denies any possible successor and justifies his decision to dissolve the IMTO mainly due to the apparently recent departure of Freedomia and the incoming local elections in the Hamlinian Republic, to which Casey needs to “catch up to”. “We have no future, and should have realised that months ago“, then adds the Secretary-General.
The conversation was retrieved yesterday night at 1 was made a Class D (“temporarily classified“) document of the Ministry of War Information, until a quick dispatch from the Department of Defense, asking for it to be declassified, was received, making it available to the general public. The original document can be found here.
